Cpl. Michael G. Michaud, a light armored vehicle mechanic from Presque Isle, Maine, and Pfc. Zach L. Pearson, an LAV driver, from Midville, Idaho, both with D Company, 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, begin the process of swapping the transmission from an LAV. The mechanics of the company keep the vehicle-dependant battalion operational, so they can maintain stability and security in their area of operation, 60-square kilometers on the outskirts of Fallujah.
