Iraqi soldiers assigned to the 10th Engineer Battalion assemble a Bangalore torpedo during a class at the Besmaya Range Complex, Iraq, Oct. 4, 2015. U.S. Army combat engineers assigned to the 588th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, led the training to help build the confidence and proficiency of the Iraqi engineers. Bangalores are primarily used by engineers to destroy wire obstacles but can also be used to clear a path through a minefield. The class was designed to help the Iraqi soldiers become more confident and proficient with the explosives. Training at the build partner capacity sites is an integral part of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve’s multinational effort to train Iraqi security force personnel to defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
