A Dutch soldier from the 41st Armored Engineer Battalion crosses between the two bridge towers on the De Hef Bridge, which spans the Maas River in downtown Rotterdam, Netherlands, Oct. 14, 2015. During the second phase of the operation, US, Belgian, and Dutch soldiers conducted the two-rope bridge crossing and rappelled down the bridge. The 173rd Airborne Brigade joined the Dutch army’s 41st Armored Engineer Battalion and the Belgian army’s 11th Engineer Battalion from Oct. 13-23, 2015 for Independent Engineer 15 in the Netherlands to increase interoperability between combat engineer, CBRN, medical and signal elements.
