The opening of Hospital Cave is illuminated during the Marine Corps Community Services Tours Plus Spooky Sites Tour Oct. 22 on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. The cave is located behind the 18th Wing Headquarters Building and remains marked as a preserved historical site known for its use as an air raid shelter and field hospital for the Imperial Japanese forces during World War II. Hospital Cave was one of four stops made during the tour during which families rode a bus and learned the historical background and legends behind the visited locations. More than 30 guests attended the tour which has been held several times annually for the past 10 years. The Spooky Sites Tours are scheduled to continue until Nov. 1.
