    Marines and Sailors with Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing listen to Major Gen. Gary L. Thomas and Sgt. Maj. Richard D. Thresher speak on the importance of tradition and sacrifice of past and current Marines at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., Nov. 9, 2015. More than 1,500 Marines and Sailors with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and MCAS Cherry Point participated in the motivational run to commemorate the Marine Corps’ 240th birthday. The run is held annually to celebrate the traditions of the Marine Corps and the camaraderie of the service members. Thomas is the commanding general and Thresher is the sergeant major of 2nd MAW.
