Petty Officer 1st Class Janelle Mattern, the leading petty officer of Medical Logistics, Support Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 3, sorts through medical supplies in the medical room at CLB-3 aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii Nov. 3, 2015. Mattern along with four Marines from 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment rushed to the aid of Robin Lopes, a sixth grade Mokapu Elementary School teacher, who had suffered lacerations to her knee from a bicycle accident which took place Oct. 15, 2015. “I heard someone yell ‘corpsman,’” said Mattern, a Pittsburgh, Pa., native. “I looked toward the school across the street and saw her lying down on the ground. I sprinted over and saw a significant amount of blood coming from knee lacerations.” (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Zachary Orr)
