SOUTH CHINA SEA (Nov. 10, 2015) U.S. Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit cut pieces of cake for their junior Marines to celebrate the Marines Corps’ 240th birthday aboard the USS Essex (LHD 2). The ceremony included a reading of Gen. John A. Lejeune’s birthday message and a cake-cutting to celebrate 240 years of tradition, service, and victory. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to promote regional stability and security in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
