Army 1st Lt. Erica Tramontano and her father, Joseph Tramontano. Joseph was a member of the scouts for 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division in 1965 and scouted the Ia Drang Valley prior to the famous battles at LZs Albany and X-Ray. Erica is currently serving in the Operations Section of the 1st Cavalry Division Artillery said she has been attending reunions for veterans of the battle with her father, since she was about 8 years old.
