WASHINGTON (Nov. 17, 2015) Cavity magnetron-E1189 Serial No. 12, from the Canada Science and Technology Museum is on display at the Canadian Embassy during an Office of Naval Research 75th anniversary commemoration of the Tizard Mission. In 1940, Sir Henry Tizard and a small British delegation brought with them to the United States and Canada plans for more than 20 technologies, including the Whittle engine and designs for rockets and gun sites. After leaving Canada, they left No. 12 with officials of the National Research Council of Canada to serve as a template for their development and production work. (U.S. Navy photo by John F.
