TANDUO BEACH, Malaysia (Nov. 13, 2015) U.S. Marine Cpl. Justin Saafield provides cover fire while conducting a beach assault with Malaysian soldiers during Malaysia-United States Amphibious Exercise 2015. Saafield is an assault team leader with Kilo Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. During the culminating event, Malaysian soldiers alongside Marines assaulted the beach using tactics learned throughout MALUS AMPHEX 15. The purpose of the exercise was to strengthen military cooperation in the planning and execution of amphibious operations between Malaysian armed forces and U.S. Marines. The 15th MEU is currently deployed in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region to promote regional stability and security in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt.
