Col. Stuart A. Toft, 349th Mission Support Group commander, retired after 30 years of service, Nov. 22, 2015. During the ceremony, Toft was also awarded the Legion of Merit for extraordinary service during his tenure. As the 349th MSG commander, Toft ensured his unit provided personnel, training, explosive ordinance disposal, civil engineering, security, and many other logistical services to Team Travis. During his exiting speech, Toft discussed the importance of mentorship throughout his career. He thanked Col. Maynard Mendoza, Toft’s former commander and the retirement ceremony’s presiding officer, for his wise words. “Mentoring is everything to me,” said Toft. “You mentor up, you mentor down, you mentor sideways … mentoring is crucial to your career.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt.
