Paolo Cecchini, with Italy’s Special Forces, shows his unit patch on the bus ride to the pickup site for Operation Toy Drop. Cecchini is making his last jump with this drop. At 55 years old, he knows he will be out of the military soon. “An explosion went off ... two meters away from me ... when we breached a door,” Cechini said, explaining he is hard of hearing in one ear. Today, he said he is excited in preparation for the jump at the 18th Annual Randy Oler Memorial Operation Toy Drop, hosted by U.S. Army Civil Affairs & Psychological Operations Command (Airborne), on Dec. 3, 2015, at Pope Field, N.C. Operation Toy Drop is the world’s largest combined airborne operation and collective training exercise with seven partner-nation paratroopers participating and allows Soldiers the opportunity to help children in need receive toys for the holidays.
