Warrant Officer Rod Cairns, Royal Australian Air Force loadmaster, glances out a window of a C-130J Hercules Dec. 8, 2015, during Operation Christmas Drop. This year marked the first time Australian and Japanese aircrews joined the U.S-lead humanitarian airlift training mission. C-130 aircrews perform low-cost, low-altitude airdrops on unsurveyed drop zones while providing critical supplies to 56 islands throughout the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of Palau. These missions highlight the U.S. and allied airpower capabilities to orient and respond to activities in peacetime and crisis. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Katrina Brisbin)
