Army Reserve and Washington Army National Guard Soldiers stationed at the Marysville, Wash., Armed Forces Reserve Center helped dispel some of the myths of a military career during a career exploration day at Arlington High School Dec. 17. Students were able to get a glimpse into the work day and career of an Army public affairs officer, an ordnance Soldier and various other military occupations. The team of Soldiers from the Reserve Center fielded questions from the interested students about training opportunities, contract commitments and education opportunities. The active learning event targeted juniors and seniors enrolled in the school’s career exploration classes. The Soldiers plan to support the school’s plans for a school-wide career day during the next semester that will involve civilian careerists in the community. The 364th ESC supports community events like this provide a critical link between the classroom and the military, while facilitating discussion of a variety of careers in military in order to increase students' options.
