Soldiers from Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Army ROTC instructors from programs from across the country shoot historical weapons at Fort Leavenworth. The weapon familiarization is part of the two-week Military History Instructor Course (MHIC) held at Fort Leavenworth twice a year. The MHIC helps military history instructors by giving them experiences and instruction from military history instructors at the Command and General Staff College and the Army Press staff ride team. The Army Press is part of the Army University which serves to improve the education experience throughout the Army.
