Marine Officer Candidates from Charlie and Delta Company attending Officer Candidate Class-220 complete their initial Physical Fitness Test (PFT) at Brown Field aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., on Jan. 20, 2016. The PFT events for all male candidates and Marines consist of a timed 3-mile run, pull-ups for maximum repetitions, and crunches for maximum repetitions within a two-minute time period. The mission of Officer Candidates School (OCS) is to "educate and train officer candidates in Marine Corps knowledge and skills within a controlled, challenging, and chaotic environment in order to evaluate and screen individuals for the leadership, moral, mental, and physical qualities required for commissioning as a Marine Corps officer."
