Samuel Palacios, forward observer, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, accurately locates a target on a AN/PED-1 Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder (LLDR) during the 1st SBCT fire support team certifications, Jan. 5, 2016. Soldiers can recognize targets in day, night or obscurant conditions, find the range to a target, and calculate grid coordinates with an LLDR.
