A drill instructor of Hotel Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, advises a recruit on how to execute a forward shoulder roll during a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program session at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Feb. 2. One of the purposes of MCMAP is to teach recruits basic offensive and defensive techniques, which gives them the opportunity to master the moves in preparation for the MCMAP test later in training.
