A paratrooper, center, 173rd Airborne Brigade Support Battalion demonstrates how to use the Lightweight Water Purifier system, Feb. 2, 2016, during a water purification training exercise with troops assigned to the U.S. Army 2nd Calvary Regiment at Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany. The Lightweight Water Purifier system, known as LWP is capable of producing up to 2,500 gallons of water per day. It is also intended to improve the responsiveness of water support to mobile small units and detachments where distribution of bulk water is not feasible or practical. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army’s Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deploying forces to the U.S. Army Europe, Africa and Central Command Areas of Responsibility within 18 hours.
