A security post stands inside the concertina wired perimeter of a forward operations base Feb. 3 on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan. Marines with 9th Engineer Support Battalion, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force performed a field training exercise Jan. 25 to Feb. 4. The purpose of the exercise was to test the unit’s ability to deploy and command and control ability over a wide area. Along with being physically exhausted, the Marines mental stamina were put to the test by standing constant security shifts.
