Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Sgt. 1st Class Haruto Akame demonstrates rifle-bayonet techniques during Forest Light 16-2 in Yausubetsu Training Area, Hokkaido, Japan, Jan. 27, 2016. The JGSDF soldiers and U.S. Marines spent two days demonstrating and practicing each other’s fighting capabilities. The exercise strengthens military partnership, solidifies regional security agreements and improves individual and unit-level skills. Akame, a rifleman, is with the 27th Infantry Regiment, 5th Brigade, Northern Army.
