Recruit Training Command firearms instructors Petty Officer 1st Class Kenneth Matthews, gunner's mate (left), and Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Valenzuela, fire controlman, fire a 9 mm handgun simulator at the USS Missouri Small Arms Marksmanship Trainer. The new $10-million facility contains 66 computer and laser-equipped small arms simulator weapon stations to train recruits in weapons safety and firearms fundamentals. Instruction includes holster drills, basic marksmanship and information on use of force and deadly force. The one-day course is the first of two weapon training courses and is a requirement for recruits to graduate. (U.S. Navy photo by Susan Krawczk)
