Course instructions are relayed to a vehicle driver prior to loading up on the 29-ton armored assault vehicles which can float in water and handle almost any condition with ease. An ice road is one thing even these drivers have to experience in order to perfect their ability to maintain control.
The Norwegian Telemark Battalion instructs U.S. Marine amphibious assault vehicle personnel from 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion on techniques of driving tracked vehicles in winter conditions on an ice track in Rena, Norway, Feb. 15.
