Krist, a dog handler for Route Clearance Platoon 3, 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion prepares to release his bomb-sniffing dog to search the area for possible improvised explosive devices in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Jan. 19. During the mission, the two contributed to RCP3's route clearance of numerous routes in southern Afghanistan.
