Men of the 99th Infantry Battalion hike during a 17-mile trail day in March, 1943. The training was aimed at preparing the men for operations in a cold weather environment. Maj. William Colby led a group of men from the battalion during Operation Rype in sabotage missions aimed at preventing German troops from moving in Norway during World War II.
