The California Army National Guard’s 69th Public Affairs Detachment unites with its Italian counterparts Jan. 20 at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC) in Hohenfels, Germany, for Allied Spirit IV. The event unites about 2,400 service members from nearly 10 nations for a “partnership exercise,” where multinational forces train together in a tactical operations environment. Italy’s prestigious Garibaldi Brigade will lead the exercise, with U.S. troops serving various roles such as coaches, trainers and opposing forces. The 69th provided journalistic coverage of the two-week event. Shown: Spc Lani Pascual, videographer; Sgt. Brianne Roudebush, journalist; Capt. Jason Sweeney, 69th commander; Lt. Col. Gennaro Troise, Garibaldi public affairs officer; OR 7 Franco Graziano, Garibaldi public affairs assistant; Staff Sgt. Salli Curchin, journalist; Sgt. Jason Beal, videographer; and Staff Sgt. Eddie Siguenza, journalist. “Allied Spirit is important for us to implement our process,” Troise explained. “The most important thing is to train together. This is an important opportunity to share our experiences and improve our methods by learning with different nations.” (Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Eddie Siguenza)
