Brig. Gen. Joaquin F. Malavet shakes hands with United Service Organization volunteers March 13 at The Palms Enlisted Club aboard Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan. Malavet was there to attend the USO Spring Visit 2016 Tour which featured Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Paul Selva, along with Miss America Betty Cantrell, country singer Craig Morgan, Carolina Panthers’ Charles Tillman, and Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. “This year we’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of the USO,” said Selva. “This is our way of saying thank you to service members for everything they do.” Malavet is the commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific and Marine Corps Base, Camp Butler-Japan.
