Dr. LaToya Brackett, Eastern Washington University Africana coordinator, speaks with members from Team Fairchild Feb. 25, 2016, during the Black History Month Luncheon at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. During the luncheon, Brackett spoke about Carter G. Woodson, the founder of Negro History Week, and how he impacted African American history. “Black History Month was essential in gaining ground into recognizing us in history," Brackett said.
