Petty Officer 1st Class Carlos Jones controls a disgruntled evacuee during a non-combatant evacuee operation drill aboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex. The drill involved more than 30 evacuees played by Marines of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and featured numerous disgruntled evacuees in order to enhance realism. Essex, commanded by Capt. Troy Hart, is part of the forward-deployed Essex Amphibious Ready Group and is participating in Cobra Gold 2010, a co-sponsored U.S.-Thailand multinational exercise.
