ELEFSIS, Greece – Paratroopers hang under their unfurling parachutes after jumping out of the back of an Air Force C-130 cargo plane at the Greek Air Force Base here Apr. 6. Thirteen Kaiserslautern-based Soldiers and Greek riggers participated in a training exercise named Spartan Hellenic, which focused on building airdrop interoperability. The American Army unit, 5th Quartermaster Theater Aerial Delivery Company, 39th Transportation Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade, 21st Theater Sustainment Command, and the Greek Air Force unit, the 865th Aerial Delivery Battalion, use theater airdrops to resupply warfighters with food and equipment they need to continue to do their job via containers on platforms pushed out of C-130 cargo planes.
