A hide site is a structure built from and out of the surrounding environment from where Marines operate, and can vary in size depending on the type of mission, duration, and size of unit occupying it. It should provide 360 degree concealment, optimum observation, and protection from the elements. A Marine, or small unit using the hide site can operate forward of friendly forces, undetected to provide reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities for sustained periods of time.
