Air show spectators watch as planes fly over head at the 2016 MCAS Cherry Point Air Show – “Celebrating 75 Years” at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C., April 30, 2016.
The F-35B Lightning II is a 5th Generation fighter that has the ability to perform air-to-ground precision strikes in all weather. It’s suitable for air-to-air combat engagements and combines stealth with extreme speed and agility. This year’s air show celebrated MCAS Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s 75th anniversary. Cherry Point is the perfect place for an air show due to its massive runway system, broad flight line and huge open spaces over which the performers can safely conduct their impressive maneuvers.
