U.S. Soldiers assigned to the Alpha Company, 40th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division monitor the command and control remote trigger for the M-7 Spider anti-personnel networked munitions system in order to initiate a hasty ambush at Kamal Jabul, an urban training site used during Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) 16.2 at Fort Bliss, Texas, May 4, 2016. The Army continues to use the NIE process to integrate, validate and refine enhanced network capabilities to meet the operational needs of Soldiers in the field. NIE 16.2 is the eleventh in a series of Soldier-led evaluations held in realistic operational environments at Fort Bliss, Texas and White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
