Petty Officer 2nd Class Doug Schroeder, an aviation structural mechanic (equipment) of North Platte, Neb., assigned to the "Black Aces" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 41, removes the fire suppression system of an F/A-18F Super Hornet during corrosion control maintenance aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Nimitz and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11 are currently in transit back to the United States after an eight month deployment to the Arabian Sea in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and to the Western-Pacific Region promoting peace and regional cooperation and stability.
