Benin navy Petty Officer Adoukonou Jacques (right), and Chief Hekponwe Severin (back right), both Africa Partnership Station West students aboard the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock-landing ship USS Gunston Hall, use a Navy Fire-Fighting Thermal Imagery device to find an object in a smoke-filled compartment during a damage control scenario aboard the ship. Gunston Hall is on a scheduled deployment in West Africa in support of APS West, an international initiative developed by Naval Forces Europe and Naval Forces Africa that aims to improve maritime safety and security in West and Central Africa.
