160601-N-WI365-055 ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia (June 01, 2016) – A role player awaits further instructions from members of the Mongolian Armed Forces as they control an angry mob during a counter-improvised explosive device training course at Five Hills Training Area, Mongolia. The 10-day course is part of Khaan Quest 2016 and is designed to increase MAF soldiers' capability in detecting unexploded ordnance and mine awareness skills that can be used during deployments or peacekeeping missions. Khaan Quest 2016 is an annual, multinational peacekeeping operations exercise hosted by the Mongolian Armed Forces, co-sponsored by U.S. Pacific Command, and supported by U.S. Army Pacific and U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific. Khaan Quest, in its 14th iteration, is the capstone exercise for this year’s Global Peace Operations Initiative program. The exercise focuses on training activities to enhance international interoperability, develop peacekeeping capabilities, build mil-to-mil relationships, and enhance military readiness.
