A drill instructor of Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, quizzes a recruit on his knowledge during a series commander inspection at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, June 6. Drill instructors test recruits to see how much knowledge they’ve retained thus far in recruit training. This is the second of four inspections recruits experience during recruit training. Annually, more than 17,000 makes recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Echo Company is scheduled to graduate July 8.
