Sgt. Kashina D. Glover, a drill instructor with Platoon 4027, Oscar Company, 4th Recruit Training Battalion, guides recruits through the process of cleaning their squad bay at the end of free time May 25, 2016, on Parris Island, S.C. Recruits must clean the squad bays multiple times a day to help prevent illness and maintain proper order and appearance. Glover, 31, is from Goldsboro, N.C. Oscar Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 5, 2016. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 19,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 12 weeks of rigorous, transformative training. Parris Island is home to entry-level enlisted training for approximately 49 percent of males and 100 percent of females in the Marine Corps. (Photo by Cpl. Vanessa Austin)
