Michael Mak, with the 115th Medical Wing, search for citizens with the assistance of Brooke, a canine member of the K9 Emergency Response Team, during the Miles Paratus Special Focus Event training exercise at Fort McCoy, Wis., June 8. The Wisconsin National Guard and the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs Division of Emergency Management coordinated and conducted the Miles Paratus Special Focus Event, a five-day emergency response exercise focused on inter-agency efforts to plan, train, and respond cohesively across the state. Approximately 2,500 personnel participated during the course of the five-day exercise at Volk Field and Fort McCoy, Wis., June 5-9, including more than 20 military units from the Wisconsin, West Virginia, Idaho, Minnesota, and Illinois National Guard and more than 50 civilian local, state, and national emergency response agencies as well as the private sector organizations.
