Sgt. James Glendening, reconnaissance Marine from 2nd Reconnaissance platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, signals a crew chief aboard a CH-53 Super Stallion from Marine Medium Tilt Rotor Squadron 162 (Reinforced) to take flight during a Special Purpose Insertion and Extraction exercise in Djibouti March 24. The 24th MEU Marines performed a series of sustainment and joint exercises alongside the French and Djiboutian military throughout their visit in Djibouti. The 24th MEU is currently on a seven month deployment aboard Nassau Amphibious Ready Group vessels as the theatre reserve force for Central Command.
