Lt. Col. Ken Kassner, 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion's commanding officer, accepts the key to the city from Eric McBride, the mayor of Hemet, Calif., as Sgt. Maj. John J. Elliott, 3rd LAR sergeant major, looks on April 6. The city adopted the battalion last year before their deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in March 2009.
