Joseph O’Brien participates in the base run during the Firecracker Softball Tournament skills competition June 29 aboard Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan. The base run contest is an event during which individual team members sprint around the softball diamond and must touch each base. The event kicked off the annual Pacific-wide tournament, which celebrates Independence Day and brings Status of Forces Agreement members together. During the event, team members faced off in base run, frozen rope and home run competitions. O’Brien was born in Kitanaka, Okinawa, Japan.
