Staff Sgt. Alejandro Garcia, a platoon sergeant for Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, bows his head in prayer during a memorial service on Patrol Base Gorgak, Garmsir District, Helmand province, Afghanistan, April 15. Lance Cpl. Jacob A. Ross, an assualtman with Weapons Company, 2/2, was killed while conducting counterinsurgency operations in southern Afghanistan. "This is a battalion of lions," said Lt. Col. Mark D. Dietz, the commanding officer for 2/2. "Lions like Lance Cpl. Ross, whose bravery and sacrifice was on your behalf. Your shared experiences, little pieces of war, which largely will go untold, shared only by you who knew him best and who were there in the end, facing the enemy, in the attack. We will never forget the name Jacob Ross, and we do him honor by ensuring that the enemy does not forget the name Hannibal. May God bless him."
