U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. David Berger, commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force, meets with representatives from the Japan Ground Self Defense Force at the Pacific Command Amphibious Leaders Symposium 2016 (PALS-16) in San Diego, Calif., July 11, 2016. Twenty-two allied and partnered nations, including the U.S. are participating in PALS-16 to strengthen interoperability and working relationships across a wide range of military operations from disaster relief to complex expeditionary operations.
