The Marines are participating in Rim of the Pacific 2016, a multinational military exercise, from June 29 to Aug. 4 in and around the Hawaiian Islands. Marines are knick-named “Soldiers of the Sea” because they are specially trained to integrate with the Navy to conduct expeditionary, amphibious operations, which exercise RIMPAC 16 simulates.
