STRAIT OF HORMUZ (July 21, 2016) - Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class Marco Gomez mans the helm on the bridge of the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (Ike) during a routine, scheduled transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Ike and its Carrier Strike Group are deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
