The feat of flying his first solo flight in the U-2 Dragon Lady May 24, 1993, crystallized for Col. Soren Jones, 380th Operations Group commander, at an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia, as he hung up his space helmet May 5, 2010, after 17 years of flying at the edge of space in an aircraft which resembles a black amphibian. Jones will serve as the chief of the reconnaissance operations division at the Pentagon advising senior leaders and helping formulate policies and guidance for Army, Navy and Air Force reconnaissance operations worldwide.
