    18th Field Artillery Brigade

    Sgt. Matthew Valverde, a native of Barstow, Calif., stands on top of an air dropped M777A2 on Sicily Drop Zone with a rigged beaconing device to guide in other paratroopers from Battery A, 1st Battalion, 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne), during the Joint Forcible Entry Exercise, April 28, on Fort Bragg, N.C. As each paratrooper reaches the M777A2 he begins to clear the packing material which protects the howitzer during the heavy drop; then Soldiers prepare the gun for firing.
