ARMY COMBAT SUPPORT TRAINING CENTER U.S. ARMY GARRISON FORT HUNTER LIGGETT, Calif. (August 20, 2016) - Marines with Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines prepare to extract via an MV-22 Osprey during a long-range raid as part of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit's Composite Training Unit Exercise aboard Army Combat Support Training Center U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett, Calif., Aug. 20, 2016. MV-22 Ospreys were used to insert Marines into the objective then extract them back to the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group/ 11th MEU ships. The MEU's mission is to provide a rapid-response force capable of conducting amphibious operations, crisis response and selected maritime special operations from the sea, by surface or air assets.
