Marines with 6th Communication Battalion joined members of the city’s police and fire departments to cut the cake following the 9/11 Tribute in honor of Sgt. Maj. Michael S. Curtin and Gunnery Sgt. Matthew D. Garvey at Marine Corps Reserve Center Brooklyn, Aug. 30, 2016. The ceremony honors Curtin and Garvey, Reserve Marines who as first responders gave their lives to save others on September 11, 2001. The remembrance ceremony is being held in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Centennial, celebrating 100 years of service and selfless dedication to the nation.
